keeping up with the jacksons

yeah, so keeping up to date with 10 families is totally taunting and confusing. initially i had planned to put all 20 kids plus my legacy kids in college at the same time. then i came back to reality and realized that would take forever. so i'm gonna put my favorite sims and maybe some whose ltws are career related. eh. we'll see. at any rate i will always play my favorites - the jacksons and the hernandezes. since the challenge requires they marry out of the 10 origin families, i will have to age up all 20 kids and then i'll see what happens from there.

so let's check in on the jacksons. [note: half of these pictures were before i went high detail, so they're pretty crappy. sorry :)] so the first few are just catching you up to where we are now.

so reminder: this is greg and denise. (denise has gone through maybe 5 makeovers and outfit changes). also the house used to be much bigger but my laptop couldn't handle (whomp whomp) so the house looks different in recent pics. anyways, this is the richest couple in town. denise is a trophy wife, but she's smarter than she lets on.

ahah so for his birthday his parents got him a car - just the crappiest one i can get. you WILL learn the value of a dollar son. he'll still prob be the only kid in college with a car. oh well.

greg and denise were going far in their respective careers. greg is now the president, which means he goes to work in a limo and basically owns all the other adults in jacksonville. haha. he's the captain!
so i wanted to see if there was any chemistry. (i always wanted garry and clara hernandez to get together). but look at homegirl. chill. you're 14 and you want that rock already? can't tell if she's a gold digger or genuinely interested. they have been bff's since first grade.


garry quickly killed the moment. garry, you're wack for this. nicole's in the background thinking, "my bro is a moron and will never get the kitty." wow.

somehow, someway, they ended up in the hot tub... and cuddlefest 2007 began

it was really annoying b/c clara was in love and garry just had a crush.... booo.

clara hung around all day so her relationship bar with greg was in the 30s. until he did this...

dude, you're creeping both me and clara out. stop that. i really caught this too late and couldn't stop it. greg better stop trying to get friendly with the ladies.

and i can already tell garry is a jerk and going to be hand full. i'm not fast enough to stop him from being an idiot. sneaky lil bastard.

welcome to Jacksonville

so i'm going to take a small break from legacy to continue the mayfair challege. i played one family last night and was mad confused about where i had left them. it made me feel a little sad. so i'll use this entry to introduce them. blah.

so the premise of the mayfair challege is to start with 10 families and have them have kids. the challenge ends when each family has been married into the mayfair family and there's still one household with one of the 9 origin last names. i thought it would be really easy except i had 80% boys first generation, so i figure it'll take 3 or 4 generations to end. (still better than the 10 of legacy).

so to do this i created Jacksonville. and they were the only families in it - so most of the households are family friends. which is cute. so small town, like where i'm originally from. Of course i put my latest legacy family there and will most likely move my "not" legacy household there in the near future. (i miss eve).

so without further ado: the 10 origin families of the mayfair challenge!

Greg and Denise Jackson
(Greg: family, ltw: grad 3 kids from college, 5 neat, 8 shy, 6 lazy, 3 playful, 3 nice, aries

the jackson family. this town is their namesake. they are the oldest (and richest!) family in jacksonville. greg's family founded the town many many years ago. Greg and Denise love it here. they were high school sweethearts, dated through college, got married and started a family (you'll meet them later). The town is still pretty small, but growing very fast. although the jacksons are significantly richer than everyone, they are extremely down to earth. they make a point of knowing everyone in town (i think they've been in every welcome wagon). they always have different families over for dinner and parties. they have built many public spaces for everyone to enjoy - including Jackson park, Jackson cemetary and Jackson pool. they hope Jacksonville remains a place everyone wants to move to.

as for children, they currently have two - Greg and Denise (you'll meet them later) and they are raising them to be as down to earth as they can. the children attend public school and are involved in many extracurricular activites - swim team, soccer, the school band, etc. you can't be bougie without being in jack-n-jill, to they do that too.

Donald and Katherine Davidson

Donald and Katherine are typical yuppies. These conservative republicans hold traditional values and plan to raise their children to upstanding citizens. Sometimes they can be offensive, but the don't know any better. they can't tell whether to be excited or afraid of how diverse the town is becoming. all these different races, these different classes. oh my. they try to be tolerant but they can't help but be cautious. with donald be a police lutinent and katherine serving in the military, i sure feel sorry for anyone who messes with these two.

these two want the american dream, complete with a picket white fence, 2.5 kids and a puppy. as you will soon see, they are on the right track.

Jimmy and Telma Hernandez

everyone loves this family. they are super chill and fun. never any drama with these two. their motto "don't worry be happy" good things just seem to happen to them and they pass on those good vibes. they just moved over from the next town over because jacksonville has a better school system. they look forward to life in this new town.

Larry and Mindy Kim

this family is all about appearance. it only matters how things look from the outside. they wear the sharpest clothes, live in the largest house and they always want more. too bad their house is practically empty on the inside and their car is a rental. will they be able to keep up this charade? larry does all the cooking and cleaning. mindy is obsessed with her career. is there space in this routine for children? well there has to be, who else will carry on the kim name?

Carlos and Maria Mendoza

young, urban, trendy. the mendoza's just arrived from sunny los angeles. although life wasn't so sunny there. carlos' older brother is heavily involved in gangs and it was becoming unsafe for the entire family. it was really hard on the family for carlos to leave since they were so close, but carlos couldn't risk him or his fiance maria getting hurt. besides they had just found out she was pregnant. carlos' brother gave him some money and then took him to the air port. although they miss the eternal sunshine of cali, nothing beats feeling of security jacksonville provides.

Elliot and Nancy Morris

both products of single parent households, these two believe in the union of marriage and refuse to raise children unless both parents are involved. that said, they did not rush into marriage or child rearing. down to earth and simple with simple values, they are easily the most popular family in jacksonville, aside from the jacksons of course (nancy is best friends with someone in every fam).

John and Sandra Seong

this young family is hoping the military will help pay for their dreams. the risks are high but they know they cannot afford to go to school right now. they have big plans for the future and they know it will involve sacrafice, they hope they won't have to pay the ultimate price for the future they've always dreamed of.

Binh and Leena Singh

will they be able to raise their children in the traditional ways of their homeland in the increasingly diverse jacksonville? recently relocated from queens, ny, the singhs were expecting more Indian families in the neighborhood, but at least they've found a small community here.

Alvin and Kelly Tate

after fleeing from the racial hatred they faced in jena, la, the tates quickly relocated to the more tolerant jacksonville. they hope they'll be able to raise their family in an accepting society and teach them all they've learned. they don't want their children learning the ways of the world the hard way. carefree and funloving, the tates aren't exactly the best when it comes to financial management, they hope to get their money game in gear so their children won't have to suffer.

Thomas and Lizze Watson

and finally, the watson family. don't let the rocker clothes fool you, these two have surprisingly traditional values and plan to impart them on their children when they are born. they believe in freedom of expression, but they also believe in the word of the lord. you will find them in church every sunday... in the front row. born agains, they no longer drink, do drugs or even swear. they learned their lesson the hard way after thomas od'ed in high school. they moved to jacksonville to get a fresh start and to get away as far away from temptation as they possibly could.

the family grows...

so i took the plunge and downloaded a new default skin. and now everyone looks so different. look at katelyn! she looks good!




so when we left off, john was a baby and the only man in her mom's life. and he still is. look at this lil man. (i took this pic before the new default...whomp whomp). anyways, kanye wasn't as slow as katelyn thought he was. although it was hard working all night, he did much better staying up all day. in fact, he was a mini mr. mom. he potty trained john and taught him to talk. now katelyn was the one who was missing everything. now she was always at work.


but those days were short lived, because as a romance sim, she only had one want that i could fulfill without destroying the family. *ahem.* so pretty soon she was pregnant again.

soon they welcomed a baby girl - aaliyah. what an angel. she was such a good baby. she hardly every cried. and she was a trooper. the house was undergoing major renovations, and she was still as calm and quiet as ever.

i guess kanye was having a bad day...

john grew into a handsome young man. (his stats: sloppy 5, outgoing 8, playful 9, serious 3, grouchy 1 (ouch).

he wasn't the only one growing. aaliyah is probably the cutest lil sim toddler ever. she pretty played with toys her whole toddler hood. kanye and katelyn jobs were crazy and they were always tired. john was always in the red for fun. it was not the best of times.

katelyn kept getting promotions. she starred in a few wac arnold's commercial. she hated the costume, but the money was right. it was short lived and she was quickly promoted to cartoon character voice. the hours were more regular, so she could spend more time with the kids.

john wasn't the smartest bulb. he kept drinking the bubbles... then choked on it. then drank it again! whomp whomp.

aaliyah finally grew into a kid. she's still a cutie. (but her stats are also wac: sloppy 5, outgoing 9, playful 9, serious 3 and grouchy 1 (double ouch!).

this wasn't the most exciting update but john turns into a kid in a couple of days so it'll be exciting to see what his aspirations are. also, i'm gonna start introducing the mayfair families as all the kids will be going to college together. (booo to college again - and with 20 sim young adults....ack. i'm thinking every other generation will go to college, so sad).

growing up

so Kanye finally made it to Jacksonville. his realtor told him it was a fixer upper but damn! it was just a structure - no paint, no siding, no nothing. eh. well the best thing about being down is the only way to go up. so Kanye moved all his stuff in and started making plans about how to accomplish his dreams. in the meantime, he took a science job. the pay was good but the work was boooring.

as soon as he was fairly settled, he asked Katelyn to move in and of course she said yes. yay. and when she came, she came with money, so Kanye could afford to make a separate bedroom... he needed some privacy after all.

Katelyn grew up!

for years, Kanye had tried in vain to get Katelyn to stop dying her hair blond. it wasn't natural, and although she was gorgeous no matter what, he thought she'd look better with something a little darker.
she finally conceded, but went overboard and came back with black hair. eh, it's ok. but it was too drastic.
at this point her poor hair had been so damaged, the hairdresser had to cut most of it off. but at least it was a natural color - and now it was healthy.

she looks good! she quickly landed a job as a body double. her body was right. hey. the pay was awesome. she decided to stick with this gig for a little while. she was young and in shape!

they were so happy they got married right away. no need for a big celebration, but her dress sure was something special.

pretty soon, she was throwing up all over the place. not so fun.

she wished kanye was home more but he was always out. what she didn't know was that he had switched careers and was well on his way to becoming a criminal mastermind. he couldn't bring himself to tell her. and now she was pregnant! the money was just too good to let go. everything she wanted, he could now get her.

she was getting big and he was just working and working and working. if it was any other guy, she'd be worried he was cheating on her, but he worshipped the ground she walked on. when she woke up, there was breakfast for her. when she came home, dinner was made. but he was rarely there.

he wasn't even there when she had their first child. he tried to make it up to her by buying her a car and building a garage, but it didn't do much. she needed attention and affection, and she was practically beating men off with a stick, but a girl can only take so much.

but right now, the only man who had her heart right now was her new son, John.
