technical difficulties

so i finally got the new computer. and then it came with a totally wack graphics card. so i had to buy a new one and it is AMAZING. in the meantime i'm trying to figure out how to transfer jacksonville to the new computer. unfortunately i think i'm going to have to do this one lot at a time. and work is getting crazy and i have a midterm on wednesday. so i doubt there will be any significant work done on this until thursday.

bear with me. in addition, i'm working on a new storyline so keep checking in.

1.5 changes

dedicated to leah. hopefully this will inspire her to start blogging again :)

the new hair style is also dedicated to leah since she was hating hard the old hair.

life continued at the jenkin household. both kanye and katelyn were advancing with their careers. as kanye climbed the ranks he still struggled with how to tell katelyn. should he tell her? would it be worth it? it was stressing him out.

and katelyn could feel that something was different. her job was pretty stressful. she was always out in the limelight. she worried that she was spending enough time with her husband. or her kids for that matter. they were growing up so fast. she was thankful they were so close.

they played together all the time. they even created a secret language. although katelyn thought it was weird, it was also very endearing. she hoped they would stay being close as they gold older. it's always good to know someone has your back. she wished she had siblings to support her though her hard times.

aaliyah was exactly like her father. she was so charismatic. very inquisitive. you couldn't keep a secret in the house without aaliyah finding it. katelyn had all but given up on christmas. she simply put aaliyahs presents under the tree in the shopping bags she bought them in, there was no point. aaliyah always seems wise beyond her years. even before she could speak, you could see it in her eyes.

while her brother john was so different. even now as a 6'1 teenager, he had a child-like innocence about him. he was such a sweetheart. so gullible, poor thing. and the girls were like vultures. katelyn had to laugh but she was not ready to be a grandmother. not yet at least.

recently she and kanye had been arguing about their finances. where was all their money going.

"if we're so rich, why the f*ck don't we have any f*cking paint on the walls!"

but it always passed. when katelyn complained about something, as soon as she turned around, it was. case in point, when she came home that night, the entire house was repainted and the floors had been redone. she was suspicious, but she figured if it was that serious kanye would tell her. she trusted her man with all her heart.

she never loved anyone like this. and he always showed her that he loved.

speaking of love... john was a ladies man. every day there was a different girl. it wasn't that he was falling for them necessarily, he just had a genuine love for women.

to deal with the pressures of life, katelyn turned to exercise. it was funny, it was actually kanye's workout plan, but as soon as she got on it, her parts in tv shows and movies started getting better. this plan was the truth! maybe someone should write a song about it. ;-)

aaliyah grew up very fast. it was just yesterday when she was a little kid. she has such a sadness about her. she is so secretive (just like her daddy) that no one really knew what was going on with her. her grades were amazing and she had friends, so no one was too worried. but her eyes portrayed a sadness beyond her years.

although nothing really bad was happening, katelyn felt out of control. she was easily distracted (as was evident by the burnt dinner every night), she wasn't sleeping well and she was alone. john would soon go off to college and aaliyah always locked herself in room. katelyn was lonely, and she didn't know how to fill the void.

keeping up with the jacksons

yeah, so keeping up to date with 10 families is totally taunting and confusing. initially i had planned to put all 20 kids plus my legacy kids in college at the same time. then i came back to reality and realized that would take forever. so i'm gonna put my favorite sims and maybe some whose ltws are career related. eh. we'll see. at any rate i will always play my favorites - the jacksons and the hernandezes. since the challenge requires they marry out of the 10 origin families, i will have to age up all 20 kids and then i'll see what happens from there.

so let's check in on the jacksons. [note: half of these pictures were before i went high detail, so they're pretty crappy. sorry :)] so the first few are just catching you up to where we are now.

so reminder: this is greg and denise. (denise has gone through maybe 5 makeovers and outfit changes). also the house used to be much bigger but my laptop couldn't handle (whomp whomp) so the house looks different in recent pics. anyways, this is the richest couple in town. denise is a trophy wife, but she's smarter than she lets on.

greg and denise were going far in their respective careers. greg is now the president, which means he goes to work in a limo and basically owns all the other adults in jacksonville. haha. he's the captain!
so i wanted to see if there was any chemistry. (i always wanted garry and clara hernandez to get together). but look at homegirl. chill. you're 14 and you want that rock already? can't tell if she's a gold digger or genuinely interested. they have been bff's since first grade.


garry quickly killed the moment. garry, you're wack for this. nicole's in the background thinking, "my bro is a moron and will never get the kitty." wow.

somehow, someway, they ended up in the hot tub... and cuddlefest 2007 began

dude, you're creeping both me and clara out. stop that. i really caught this too late and couldn't stop it. greg better stop trying to get friendly with the ladies.

and i can already tell garry is a jerk and going to be hand full. i'm not fast enough to stop him from being an idiot. sneaky lil bastard.

welcome to Jacksonville

so i'm going to take a small break from legacy to continue the mayfair challege. i played one family last night and was mad confused about where i had left them. it made me feel a little sad. so i'll use this entry to introduce them. blah.

so the premise of the mayfair challege is to start with 10 families and have them have kids. the challenge ends when each family has been married into the mayfair family and there's still one household with one of the 9 origin last names. i thought it would be really easy except i had 80% boys first generation, so i figure it'll take 3 or 4 generations to end. (still better than the 10 of legacy).

so to do this i created Jacksonville. and they were the only families in it - so most of the households are family friends. which is cute. so small town, like where i'm originally from. Of course i put my latest legacy family there and will most likely move my "not" legacy household there in the near future. (i miss eve).

so without further ado: the 10 origin families of the mayfair challenge!

Greg and Denise Jackson
(Greg: family, ltw: grad 3 kids from college, 5 neat, 8 shy, 6 lazy, 3 playful, 3 nice, aries

the jackson family. this town is their namesake. they are the oldest (and richest!) family in jacksonville. greg's family founded the town many many years ago. Greg and Denise love it here. they were high school sweethearts, dated through college, got married and started a family (you'll meet them later). The town is still pretty small, but growing very fast. although the jacksons are significantly richer than everyone, they are extremely down to earth. they make a point of knowing everyone in town (i think they've been in every welcome wagon). they always have different families over for dinner and parties. they have built many public spaces for everyone to enjoy - including Jackson park, Jackson cemetary and Jackson pool. they hope Jacksonville remains a place everyone wants to move to.

as for children, they currently have two - Greg and Denise (you'll meet them later) and they are raising them to be as down to earth as they can. the children attend public school and are involved in many extracurricular activites - swim team, soccer, the school band, etc. you can't be bougie without being in jack-n-jill, to they do that too.

Donald and Katherine Davidson

Donald and Katherine are typical yuppies. These conservative republicans hold traditional values and plan to raise their children to upstanding citizens. Sometimes they can be offensive, but the don't know any better. they can't tell whether to be excited or afraid of how diverse the town is becoming. all these different races, these different classes. oh my. they try to be tolerant but they can't help but be cautious. with donald be a police lutinent and katherine serving in the military, i sure feel sorry for anyone who messes with these two.

these two want the american dream, complete with a picket white fence, 2.5 kids and a puppy. as you will soon see, they are on the right track.

Jimmy and Telma Hernandez

everyone loves this family. they are super chill and fun. never any drama with these two. their motto "don't worry be happy" good things just seem to happen to them and they pass on those good vibes. they just moved over from the next town over because jacksonville has a better school system. they look forward to life in this new town.

this family is all about appearance. it only matters how things look from the outside. they wear the sharpest clothes, live in the largest house and they always want more. too bad their house is practically empty on the inside and their car is a rental. will they be able to keep up this charade? larry does all the cooking and cleaning. mindy is obsessed with her career. is there space in this routine for children? well there has to be, who else will carry on the kim name?

Carlos and Maria Mendoza

young, urban, trendy. the mendoza's just arrived from sunny los angeles. although life wasn't so sunny there. carlos' older brother is heavily involved in gangs and it was becoming unsafe for the entire family. it was really hard on the family for carlos to leave since they were so close, but carlos couldn't risk him or his fiance maria getting hurt. besides they had just found out she was pregnant. carlos' brother gave him some money and then took him to the air port. although they miss the eternal sunshine of cali, nothing beats feeling of security jacksonville provides.

Elliot and Nancy Morris

both products of single parent households, these two believe in the union of marriage and refuse to raise children unless both parents are involved. that said, they did not rush into marriage or child rearing. down to earth and simple with simple values, they are easily the most popular family in jacksonville, aside from the jacksons of course (nancy is best friends with someone in every fam).

John and Sandra Seong

this young family is hoping the military will help pay for their dreams. the risks are high but they know they cannot afford to go to school right now. they have big plans for the future and they know it will involve sacrafice, they hope they won't have to pay the ultimate price for the future they've always dreamed of.

will they be able to raise their children in the traditional ways of their homeland in the increasingly diverse jacksonville? recently relocated from queens, ny, the singhs were expecting more Indian families in the neighborhood, but at least they've found a small community here.

Alvin and Kelly Tate

after fleeing from the racial hatred they faced in jena, la, the tates quickly relocated to the more tolerant jacksonville. they hope they'll be able to raise their family in an accepting society and teach them all they've learned. they don't want their children learning the ways of the world the hard way. carefree and funloving, the tates aren't exactly the best when it comes to financial management, they hope to get their money game in gear so their children won't have to suffer.
